Often misunderstood, dyslexia is not simply seeing letters or words backwards; it is related to a weakness in language processing. Due to this misunderstanding, a student struggling with reading or spelling may not be readily identified as having dyslexia, or may not be identified until well into elementary school or later. By this point, their struggle with reading or writing has affected their self-esteem and academic progress.
You do not need a dyslexia diagnosis to receive dyslexia remediation from HOLS. However, we need to screen your child before we can offer a program specifically tailored to their individual needs.
Although dyslexia is lifelong, timely and appropriate intervention can make all the difference — especially when it targets the various aspects of learning that often accompany it. At HOLS, we recognize that there are several subtypes of dyslexia, and we customize each student’s program to build on individual strengths and address specific challenges.
While dyslexia is the most common reason a student may struggle with reading, spelling, or written composition, it isn’t the only one. The good news is that whether the root cause is dyslexia, another learning difference, or a combination of both, HOLS provides a comprehensive approach — tailor-made to help your child succeed.
We are incredibly grateful for the support and guidance Hands On Learning Solutions has provided to Reese. Through her time with you, we’ve gained a much deeper understanding of her diagnosis of Orthographic Dyslexia and how best to support her.
Reese has truly enjoyed her experience and formed a meaningful connection with her clinician. That relationship has been instrumental in increasing her enthusiasm for learning and her willingness to attend sessions.
We’ve seen noticeable improvements in her spelling and handwriting, and we often catch her applying the skills she’s learned during her time at Hands On. Thank you for making such a positive difference in her learning journey.
