My passion for helping kids overcome learning struggles comes from my own family’s journey. When my son faced severe challenges, I realized very quickly that traditional classrooms weren’t equipped to meet his needs. I wanted more for him, and I knew I needed to search for answers beyond what the school system could provide.
Jeff and I felt the weight of that struggle every day as parents—it was overwhelming at times, and we often wondered if things would ever get easier. But that challenge lit a fire in me. It became the reason I started what is now Hands on Learning Solutions—a place built on persistence, compassion, and the belief that every child deserves the chance to succeed.
When I stepped away from traditional education, my focus shifted entirely to finding answers for my son. What I quickly realized was the limited resources available for children with special learning needs. That realization sparked a journey for me—I spent years studying with experts from various fields, exploring brain science, and delving into how we actually learn.
Through this work, I discovered something hopeful: many learning challenges aren’t fixed. With the right, science-backed approaches—applied in the natural order of skill development—struggles can lessen, and often, they can be overcome. I’ve seen it happen again and again. What once feels like a barrier can become a breakthrough. Learning challenges can turn into learning successes.
